Child Care Subsidy and Family Tax Benefit

If you and/or your partner has not lodged your 2018-19 Individual tax return with the ATO by 31 March 2021, your access to ongoing Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will stop. This means you will pay the full cost of their childcare.

If you are not required to lodge a tax return for 2018-19 but have not yet informed the ATO or Services Australia, you should notify them by 31 March 2021. We also suggest you notify Services Australia.

Note: If you requested an extension to lodge your Individual 2018-19 tax return with the ATO for after 31 March 2021, this will not prevent Services Australia from stopping access to the CCS. Services Australia can assist those who have special circumstances preventing them or their partner from lodging before the deadline.

The Child Care Subsidy is administered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment. For all enquiries regarding the Child Care Subsidy, please contact the Department of Education, Skills and EmploymentExternal Link.

Please note:

Tax Return Lodgement due date for Family Tax Benefit is different, as this is 30th June of the following year.
